What is joint Arthroscopy ?
Arthroscopy is a key hole surgery of the joint.The patient is administered suitable anesthesia like S.A.,E.A., for knee and hip scopy and G.A. for shoulder scopy after which, a small telescope is introduced into the joint to be examined. A camera attached at the end of this telescope transmits the images on a viewing monitor.
Various procedures are then performed through key holes while viewing the images on the monitor. This surgery are most of the time are stitch-less so usually no visible marks of surgery on skin.We usually do recordings of procedures done through arthroscopy and hand over the CDs to patients or relatives on their demand.
Arthroscopy achieve the goals of surgery without “cutting “of soft tissues as compared to conventional open surgery, so pain is very minimal and Recovery is much faster with the earlier return to work with a superior cosmetic result.
